The healing of the nostril piercing will basically depend on the care given to it.
The first 30 days are essential , although the piercing will not be completely healed until 3-6 months have passed, depending on the healing process of each person.
We recommend having an F136 implant-grade titanium labret to start with as it will help the healing of the piercing. A hoop will complicate the healing process.
Care of nostril piercing
1- WASH YOUR NOSTRIL PIERCING WITH SERUM 1-2 TIMES A DAY,
Try to do this after a shower. If you don't shower one day, WASH YOUR HANDS thoroughly and let enough water run over the piercing before you start cleaning it. When you feel it moving, you can start washing it. If you move it dry, you will cause an injury and delay healing.
Proper procedure: Heat the physiological serum slightly in a small, clean glass until it is look warm, wet a cotton swab on both sides, clean the entrance and exit with one side of the swab until any crusts are removed, then finish cleaning the entrance and exit with the other side of the swab.
2- DRY THE AREA of your Nostril piercing
To remove moisture and promote healing, use non-woven gauze, which is softer and won't hurt.
3- DO NOT TOUCH OR MOVE NOSTRIL PIERCING
Do not touch it if your hands are not freshly washed , as the bacteria on our hands could infect the piercing or the wound could become crusted off, delaying healing.
4- DO NOT SLEEP ON THE PIERCING
If you sleep on the piercing, the inflammation will take longer to go away, the healing will be delayed and the piercing will tilt. If the piercing tilts, the healing will take forever and there will be a thousand complications.
Wait 30 days before going to your professional to have your piercing checked and change the jewelry to a shorter one if he or she sees that the piercing is ready for it. Make the first change with your piercer, no matter what.
5- NEVER REMOVE IT EVEN TO CLEAN
If you remove your piercing at home while it is healing, you will not be able to put it back in, and if you do, you will cause further wounds and introduce bacteria, which will cause a possible infection.
6- DO NOT PUT ALCOHOL, CREAMS, HYDROGEN PEROXIDE OR POVIDONE IODINE
Alcohol, hydrogen peroxide and povidone iodine are not advisable for an open wound, because they will kill the scar cells and delay healing. Antibiotic creams are not recommended in a normal healing process because they will lose their effect later.
7- DO NOT REMOVE SCAB WITHOUT WETTING THEM FIRST
You have to clean the scabs carefully in the shower, when your hands are clean and the piercing is wet. Otherwise, you will tear off not only the scab but also the healing skin, leaving the wound unprotected and at risk of infection. In addition, you will delay healing.
8- DO NOT CHANGE THE JEWEL UNTIL A MONTH HAS PASSED
The first piece of jewelry that is put on is longer, to contain the inflammation of the first few days.
Wait 30 days to go to your professional to have your piercing checked and to change the jewelry to a shorter one if he or she sees that the piercing is ready for it. Make the first change with your piercer, no matter what; he or she will know when the right time is.
THE MORE CAREFUL YOU ARE WITH ALL THESE PRECAUTIONS, THE SOON YOUR PIERCING WILL BE HEALTHY.
Luck!
SUMMER TIPS: Avoid going into the sea, swimming pools, rivers, etc. for the first month. After that time, clean your piercing with saline solution after a swim. This will prevent germs from causing an infection.
