Should you rotate freshly pierced earrings or not?

Fresh ear piercing body jewelry is part of the ideal of beauty in many cultures. The most well-known practices include tattoos, body piercings, and, above all, ear piercings.

Whether in the soft earlobe or the cartilaginous parts of the ear:

Proper care is critical to ensure that your newly acquired eye-catcher remains beautiful and, above all, healthy.

What should you do after getting a fresh ear piercing?

After piercing, swelling and redness may occur around the ear hole. This is completely normal and usually heals again in two to three days. However, to promote the healing process and avoid infections, you should keep a few things in mind.

The initial studs or health studs should not be removed for 6 to 12 weeks, depending on whether you had your earlobe or cartilage pierced.

This ensures that the holes do not close up again, which can happen very quickly if the foreign body is removed without the ear having a chance to heal completely.

During the healing process, you should only touch your ears with clean hands. In addition, it is recommended that you clean the holes and studs once a day, preferably after showering. You can ask your doctor, piercer, jewelry store, or pharmacy for recommendations for an appropriate care product. You can also purchase various ear piercing care products directly from us in the earrings and studs online shop.

What should you avoid after getting a fresh ear piercing?

Generally – even after 6 to 12 weeks – you should avoid using inferior material as jewelry. Nickel can cause allergic reactions and heavy metals such as lead and cadmium are not recommended as they are considered harmful to health. You are on the safe side with gold ear studs, titanium ear studs, and surgical steel ear studs as these are anti-allergic.

Before the ear stud has completely healed, you should avoid touching the ear and ear unnecessarily or removing the ear stud. You should also avoid going swimming in swimming pools or lakes with the first ear stud as the water may contain germs that can enter the ear through the wound and lead to an infection.

The ear should also not come into contact with hairspray, shampoo, or soap. You should clean the ear thoroughly with clean water after showering or bathing. Otherwise, the ear should not come into contact with any further moisture.

There are also a few things you should pay attention to when it comes to your clothing. Try not to get your earrings caught on a piece of clothing while getting dressed or undressed and comb your hair carefully.

Should you rotate your freshly pierced earrings or not?

Caring for a fresh ear piercingOne question that is still unanswered is whether or not you should twist the freshly pierced stud. Some experts explain that this is necessary because otherwise, the stud could stick or even grow in. Other experts think that this cannot happen. Quite the opposite: twisting would slow down the healing process because you would continually destroy fresh tissue. So

what should you do? A crust of fluid forms around the first stud and comes out of the wound. This crust makes the stud-less mobile. But that doesn’t matter. You can remove this crust with lukewarm water and then treat the ear with your care product.

You should refrain from “twisting away” the crust because this does not guarantee that all of the crust will be removed. In the worst case, dirt will get caught in the piercing channel.

When it comes to twisting the stud, it is, therefore, advisable to take a middle path:

the ear has to be cleaned anyway, which means that the stud will also be moved to a certain extent.

It is best to dry your ears after showering or bathing and then apply your care product. To ensure that the product reaches the piercing channel. You can rotate the ear stud or move it back and forth. This way, the stud can be moved easily as your care product creates less resistance and you also ensure that you do not collect any dirt on or in the ear hole.
