LIP PIERCING: LEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR PIERCING

LIP PIERCING: LEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR PIERCING

The frenulum or lip piercing is also called a smiley piercing because it is most visible when smiling. It is pierced through the frenulum, which connects the middle of the upper lip to the gums. The frenulum is thin but relatively stable. It is a mucous membrane piercing, heals quite quickly and rarely becomes infected.

Every piercing is different and requires different jewelry, care, healing times, etc.

Here you will find all important information in brief or detailed form.

FUNDAMENTALS

  • In the first two days after piercing, avoid anything that thins the blood: such as alcohol, drugs and medication (aspirin)
  • Dairy products (e.g. chocolate, yogurt, cheese) are prohibited for 10 days because the lactic acid they contain can negatively affect wound healing.
  • Kissing and oral sex should be avoided for 2 weeks (risk of infection).
  • Be careful with very spicy or acidic foods.
  • In the first few days, avoid foods that require a lot of chewing. Be careful when biting and chewing; it's better to cut the food into small pieces.

RISKS

  • Since it is pierced through very fine connective tissue and is inevitably always moving, it can grow out.
  • When metal rubs against tooth enamel, it wears away. Regular checks for receding gums and indentations in the teeth are recommended.

PLACEMENT OF LIP PIERCING
