Let's talk about: Belly button piercing

We love belly button piercings.

I really wanted to start this blog with this sentence. Belly button piercing is not only a classic in piercing studios, but incredibly beautiful body jewelry for every body. In fact, belly button piercings are among the most demanding piercings. Since not every anatomy allows the classic belly button piercing or even one at all.

A belly button piercing is not a matter of weight or figure, but of individual anatomy

A belly button piercing is not limited to a flat stomach or a certain weight - this should never stop you from getting the piercing you want. The only reason that could prevent you from getting a belly button piercing is an unsuitable anatomy.

Every belly button is individually shaped and certain anatomies require certain alternatives. However, if there is no tissue available, there is of course no room for a permanent piercing and unfortunately it cannot be done.

The Where and How of Belly Button Piercing

The belly button piercing is placed in the navel, not in the tissue above. Or in front of it, no matter from which side it is pierced, whether classic from above or from the side or reverse from below.

It is important that, before we start choosing jewelry, we check whether the tummy will work and if so, what type of jewelry we need.

Since the belly button piercing is simply a surface piercing and therefore there is a risk of it growing out, you should act with great caution,

in care and in the choice of jewelry. This should of course be at least implant grade titanium, but gold is also an excellent material. Surgical steel, alloyed piercings and plastic should not remain in the body permanently.

The most common is the evergreen with a large stone in the navel and a small one on the top, but there are other possibilities. Such as a belly button piercing ring, which sits very well in short piercing channels, e.g. after pregnancy. As well as a large stone on the top and a small ball or disk at the bottom. Which then decorates the so-called floating navel .

A not so rare special form: the floating navel

The floating navel is not that rare and is caused by the belly button lip at the upper edge. Which "floats" over the underlying part of the navel when standing and sitting.

If a normal belly button stud is inserted there, it can lead to massive irritation and/or healing problems.

As a rule, a banana or L-bar fits well there; with an appropriate length, it relieves the puncture channel and ensures stress-free healing.

Healing time and care: Patience and mindfulness is the key

Nevertheless, the healing phase for a navel piercing is quite demanding and can take some time. A good 6-9 months is not uncommon and should be planned for, for example, when it comes to vacation, swimming pool, etc.

The best time for a fresh belly button piercing, unless you want a fake one, is during the winter months. As the warm evenings at the lake, swimming pool or beach vacation are usually still a long way off. This gives the piercing enough time to heal and is ready to be shown off in the summer.

What is important in the area of care is not only the appropriate care product, i.e. saline solution. But also the choice of clothing to avoid an inflamed piercing.

High-waisted pants

High-waisted pants are really taboo for a few months, as they put too much pressure on the fresh piercing, as do belts (and belt buckles). In this case, so-called wild flesh can form (foreign body granuloma is the correct name). In addition, the belly button piercing is a surface piercing and is therefore somewhat more vulnerable and sensitive. And constant pressure can trigger migration: the body rejects the piercing and it grows out.

Tights should also be put further back in the closet, as should tops that have a coarse mesh: net, wool, knit, lace, etc.

This is how we make sure that the piercing doesn't get caught anywhere and can't be irritated by the pulling force. Patience is the price that has to be paid for a beautiful piercing. But it's definitely worth it!

Every movement radiates into the middle of the body and puts strain on the fresh wound. So you should approach the healing process with a little more understanding and mercy. The redness around the puncture channel on the top side can last a little longer, but this is not a cause for concern. However, you are always welcome to contact us if you have any questions, concerns or problems. Healing is never linear and is always associated with ups and downs: redness, swelling, secretion and sensitivity to pressure.

Belly button is a body cavity

The fact that the belly button is a body cavity should not be neglected, as moisture forms very quickly here. Which quickly becomes the perfect breeding ground for lots of bacteria. We certainly don't live in a vacuum and nothing is free of bacteria, but their proliferation should be kept somewhat under control, which you can do well by regularly "drying out" your belly button. You should clean and dry your belly button after every shower, cleaning or exercise.

Belly Button Piercings and Pregnancy

As the belly grows, the piercing channel becomes tighter over time and the piercing can no longer be worn. Often a so-called "pregnancy piercing" is offered, which is simply a PTFE rod that "stretches" with the body.

However, since PTFE is not a material that should be inside the body. It is not advisable to do this and to remove the belly button piercing for the time being.

If the piercing has healed well and has been worn for a few years, it is almost always possible to reinsert it afterwards. Even years later, the piercing channel can still be reactivated.

FAQ: How painful is a belly button piercing?

As always, the pain perception is completely different for each person and some people find it very relaxing, while others feel pain. Nevertheless, it is only a short sting and can be managed in all cases, as we can go at your own pace and take a break at any time.

Depending on the choice of jewelry, the price starts at 65 euros. The service price (45 euros) plus the jewelry price (from 20 euros) are added together.

How long does it take for a belly button piercing to heal?

A good 6-9 months, but there are also individuals where it goes faster or takes a little longer.
