They are usually widened circular scars around the navel, either upper or lower partial.

No, the scar can be corrected, concealed and/or camouflaged, but not completely removed. How does the navel look after corrective plastic surgery due to scarring?
The idea is to correct the scar so that it is thinner and much more hidden so that it is as unnoticeable as possible.
4 reasons why scars form on the navel
There are several causes, however, these are the most common:
1. They can be caused by piercings or perforations in the navel that cause keloids scar.
2. They can be produced after abdominoplasty or lipectomy surgeries.
3. Surgeries to fix some type of abdominal hernia: Many hernias are asymptomatic, but some cause pain and require immediate surgery, causing last-minute scars that often heal poorly.
4. Sometimes due to birth defects that require some type of correction,
such as the correction of polycystic ovary syndrome, uterine fibroids, endometriosis and laparoscopic tubal ligation.
I have been performing surgeries and treatments to improve the aesthetic aspect of scars for over 22 years. I have put together a list of frequently asked questions that I have been asked over the years, which may help you resolve any doubts. If you have any further questions, you can write to me or request an appointment for a clinical evaluation.
If I don't like the aesthetic shape of my navel, can I change it?
Yes, there is a plastic surgery procedure called “umbilicoplasty” and if you are unhappy with the shape of your belly button you can improve it. There is no ideal or imposed way of how a belly button should look, remember that each body is different and unique, but if the way you feel and how your belly button looks is important to you, it is very valid that you want to have an umbilicoplasty.
Can a patient undergo umbilicoplasty (navel plastic surgery) and hide or camouflage scars on the abdomen in the same surgery?
Of course, umbilicoplasty is a procedure that can be performed alone or in conjunction with other body procedures.
How can a scar from a belly button piercing be improved? How can scars be hidden or camouflaged?
It depends on the type of scar and if there is excess skin to be able to remodel it, it can be done; if there is not enough skin, it is difficult to correct it.
To explain it better, if you had a piercing or perforation in your navel and it did not heal well, that is, a keloid formed, it is possible to see a kind of pink or reddish bump with a hazy or shiny appearance. It can be corrected, but not completely removed. It is important that you come to a clinical evaluation first to be able to see the state of your skin and determine what type of treatment is best for you.
How can reduce keloid scar from a laparoscopic procedure be improved?
Almost all scars can be corrected, however, the patient must be evaluated to determine whether this is possible or not.
How can a scar from post-bariatric surgery be improved? Can the navel be reshaped?
Basically, this procedure can be done with general or local anesthesia depending on the size of your scar. A resection or removal of a large part or all of it is performed and it is closed again, improving the aesthetic and functional part of it.
It should be noted that if the surgery is post-bariatric, that is, if you had a considerable loss of fat, the skin may be excess, which will cause sagging and the behavior of the scar may be different from a scar located on skin without excess, so the healing process is different at this point.
